Last week I visited two incredible islands in Italy: Capri and Ischia. First I hopped on a ferry in Naples (Molo Beverello) and arrived to Capri for the quintessential experience: fresh seafood, perfect views and lively streets. With its effortless chic vibe and endless sea views, Capri is simply a magical place that you cannot miss if you are planning to visit the Amalfi Coast.
If you’re in the market for complete relaxation, tasty Italian food and views that will be engraved in your memory forever, you’ll find it on this island. Capri is the epitome of la dolce vita and il dolce far niente and you will want to surrender to the preferred island activity of eating lots of tasty Italian food and simply relaxing.
Ps: Be prepared! Bring some lightweight clothing and lots of sunscreen (I used La Roche-Posay sunscreen and it was the best) as the sun is quite intense in the summer months!
The day after I visited Capri I knew I wanted to explore more islands in the bay of Naples. So I decided to take a trip to Ischia, Capri’s lesser-known island sister to the north. This lovely island is covered with white sand beaches and incredible views of the Mediterranean waters. Compared to Capri, Ischia is relatively unknown to many, but I can honestly say it is worth a visit! The island combines excellent beaches with challenging walks, quiet delights, impeccable food places and thermal pools. What makes Ischia so special? Its sense of La Dolce Vita, enjoying the simple delights of everyday life. I only spent a day in Ischia which was way too short so I think I have to come back soon to explore more of this magnificent island!
