Travel guide Bali

A homemade life | Travel guide Bali

Some people prefer to trek mountains and explore the wilderness while I like to relax on a white sandy beach with the waves lapping at my feet. That’s why Bali has been on my travel list for ages. When I think of Bali I think of long walks on the beach, the sound of waves crashing on the shore and the feeling of sand between my toes.

The first four days I spent at this lovely little place called La Cabane, with ocean views, tasty food (I had the best poached eggs with fresh fruit and pineapple juice for breakfast) and a lush tropical Balinese garden. After the first week I spent two nights in Sal Secret Spot, which I can highly recommend. This intimate eco boutique hotel is tucked away in the stunning Bukit region and it’s the perfect place to unwind, take a swim in the pretty pool and enjoy a Balinese massage. It’s also close to the beach where you can enjoy fresh fish at one of the many beachside restaurants and watch the incredible pink sunset.

A homemade life | Travel guide Bali GIli Air

I decided Gili Air was worth a trip as well (think blue waters, palm trees, white sands and beach side huts) so I booked a boat ticket to visit this amazing island. I stayed in a bambu cottage right next to the beach which was perfect since I enjoy a morning swim and dinner on the beach. I rented snorkel gear and enjoyed the underwater beauty of this island (and even saw a sea turtle!).

After two days on the island I went back to Bali and stayed in Seminyak, a lively and vibrant place in Bali with the best spas and restaurants. I went to Spring Spa for a charcoal facial and a pedicure and it was simply the best I’ve ever had. This place is definitely worth a moment out of your day with its effortless fusion of beauty, design and lifestyle.

A homemade life | Bali

For the best breakfast and brunch in Seminyak I visited Sisterfields, an Australian cafe that attracts the island’s in-crowds and traveling foodies. Think quality homemade ingredients cooked from scratch each day. I had the pancakes with rhubarb and strawberry compote, vanilla bean ice cream and maple syrup. So yummy!

Another favorite place of mine in Seminyak has to be Sea Circus. This charming place has the best blended juices, smoothies, salads and lots of other healthy food. A place definitely worth visiting!
