Weekend Reading

  • Perhaps it’s just me but I love the feeling of my home being a cosy and warm place for me to be. Scented candles (this one is my favorite), fresh flowers, warm blankets, a little stack of my favorite magazines and the bed made up with my own sheets are all things that give me that homey feeling. One of the most important things to me is making my place a place where I actually want to be, where I feel safe and at home. That’s why I could really relate to this blog article on My Domaine.
  • I’ve had my eye on these pretty and comfy sneakers from Ugg since the moment I saw them. I think they’re perfect for Spring, don’t you?
  • I loved this article on Garance Dore’s blog about women who moved to a new city for love, work and/or spontaneity. If you’re considering to make a change in your life and need a little push, their stories might be it. I think it’s quite admirable that they open up not only about the best parts of entering a new phase in life but also about the hardest parts of moving to a new place so I can highly recommend this post.
  • Having lived as a single girl in the city for most of my life, I love this article on the difference between being single and being alone.

Weekend Reading

  • On Sundays I prefer to start my day in bed reading blog articles from my favorite bloggers. One of them is Garance Doré, a French blogger, photographer, illustrator and author who lives in New York City. I absolutely love her writing, her sense of style and her illustrations.  In 2016, she together with her team celebrated the 10 year anniversary of her inspiring and stylish blog. Read here how she’s looks back on the past ten years and shares some of the best moments with her readers.
  • Garance also wrote a New Year’s letter on her blog in which she shares her moments of pure joy and her moments of struggle, a letter that I can really relate to as 2016 has been a challenging year for me as well.
  • An interesting chat between Garance Doré (Yes, I am a big fan of her ;)) and Elle Macpherson about health, beauty and how to personally brand yourself.
  • Oh my gosh, this is so me, especially during these cold winter days: “Nesting is the new going out“, according to Well + Good 2017 wellness trend report. Apparently I am not the only one who prefers to spend time at home snuggled up in warm blankets with a cup of tea instead of going out.

I signed off early last week to enjoy a little bit of time away from the office and my laptop with my friends and family. The stress of taking tests, applying for jobs and completing my intern tasks on time before the long Easter weekend have been killing me all week, and the little signs my body sends me are a clear message that I need to slow down and unwind for a bit. I hope you can do just the same. Have a lovely week!

A homemade life Paris 3

  • Which fairytale castle will you be staying in during the holidays this December? Harper’s Bazaar shares some of the most magnificent and chic castles to spent the holidays in with your loved ones. I wouldn’t mind spending a few weeks at Cap Rocat in Spain (think golden castle, a glittering saltwater swimming pool and an endless supply of fresh seafood) or at the Balfour Castle in Scotland, where I would curl up by an open fire with a cup of tea. A girl can dream, right?
  • Everyone knows that Paris is one of the world’s most romantic cities. Therefore, Condé Nast Traveler shares a list of the most charming places to kiss in the City of Lights. I think these places are the best: Île Saint-Louis for a romantic evening stroll and the idyllic Montmartre with its cosy hideaways.
  • I can highly recommend the incredibly inspiring story written by Garance Doré about the advantages of simplifying your life. From beauty and clothes to food and travelling.
  • On her blog TrésorParisien, Aisling Greally shares a few lovely photographs and tips of how to prepare for a night in the city. Think choosing the right music to set the mood (I always listen to Coldplay and Calvin Harris), finding the perfect lipstick and enjoying a glass of wine (or two).
  • December has finally arrived so it’s time to find the perfect presents! It’s time to get creative! Apartment Therapy shares some tips of how to tie a perfect ribbon bow for a gift.
