The Year 2016

There is still one sleep left until the new year. How did this happen already? This year has passed by even quicker than I even could have imagined. I started this year in freezing cold Amsterdam together with my loved ones. This year has been one of the most challenging and at the same time most exciting years so far. Therefore I love looking back at a few moments that were extra special to me during this time. I hope you all had a blissful year and let’s spread even more love, laughter and kindness in 2017 as I think we all need it a little bit more these days. Wishing you all happy holidays, lots of love and light wherever you are in the world.

The first few months of 2016 were filled with ice skating on Amsterdam’s Museumplein with the most exquisite view of the Rijksmuseum and some tasty food in one of the charming wooden chalets. I went to the ballet to finally see the romantic Swan Lake and it was the most inspiring evening. Those of you who have been following along for quite some time know that I love, love, love ballet and so a few times a year I go to the Stopera here in Amsterdam to see some of the most inspiring ballet dansers perform. I also went to the Ragazze Kwartet Haute Couture performance at the Concertgebouw which I can highly recommend.

Corner Bakery

I also enjoyed lunches, brunches and breakfasts at Ree7, Buffet van Odette, Corner Bakery, George No5, Scandinavian Embassy and Pluk.

Just before spring arrived here in Amsterdam I hopped on a plane to Bali, a place that has been on my travel list for ages. One of the highlights of my little trip was staying at Sal Secret Spot, having lunch at Sisterfields and getting a spa treatment at Spring Spa. 2016 was definitely a year full of holidays as I also visited Rome together with my mum and little sister to enjoy some quality time together. It can very likely have been one of the very best weekend trips ever as I absolutely love the city of Rome. You ask where my love for Rome comes from? Start looking at my mum. She loves anything Italian and I think she managed to transfer her love for Italy onto me..

Sal Secret Spot

To top it all off, I visited Barcelona with a few friends for a well-deserved girls weekend and I went to the little island of Ibiza in the beginning of September together with one of my closest friends. It was a week full of discovering hidden gems and beaches, strolling aimlessly along the harbor and burying our faces in an obscene amount of delicious Spanish food.

Amante Beach Club

In between holidays, a hectic career and catching up with friends and family, I passed my wine exam and switched jobs (I moved from wine to cosmetics which as you might know I am a big fan of) so it’s been an intense year to say the least. That’s why I love looking back at this year, remembering the highlights but definitely the lows as well. Remembering things and events made me laugh and cry at the same time. Even though 2016 has been challenging on so many different levels, I am still thankful for every single thing it has taught me and I can only hope that 2017 will be even better. But for now, let me say: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Best Moments Of 2015

Best Moments Of 2015 part 1

The year 2015 is quickly coming to a close and with New Year’s Eve making an entrance in a few moments, 2016 will be here before you know it. I have to admit, I love beginnings, like the start of a new job, a new friendship, a new home, a new month and in less than a day, a new year. For me, the month of December is a time to reflect on what has happened the past twelve months, and to be able to reinvent myself from it.

I love putting all the months of 2015 together and relive some of those moments that have been so special to me throughout the year. It makes me appreciate every little thing even more: from landing the perfect job to sipping champagne and wine and enjoying dinners with my loved ones. This year has been incredibly nice and I want to say thank you to everyone who has been a part of my life this year in one way or another.

Best Moments Of 2015 Part 2

The first month of 2015 was quite special for me as I started my internship at L’Oréal. It was the most stressful and most exciting internship I have done so far and it still puts a smile on my face when I think of all the things I learned, the incredible brands I worked with and the loveliest team that inspired me throughout my internship. I spent this month working my ass off (as well as the next months to be honest) and enjoying the company of loved ones and discovering new and old places in Amsterdam, with my personal favorite Ree7 (this place always feels like home to me), De Luwte and Scandinavian Embassy.

When Spring arrived I celebrated my birthday with some of my best friends at Ree7 in the Nine Streets in Amsterdam and spent a few days in the charming city of London where a dear friend of mine lives who showed my some of his favorite places and corners of the city. I’ve never been a London girl (I just love Paris too much) if I can be completely honest but I loved this trip a lot so I think I might have to come back very soon..

Best Moments Of 2015 Part 3

In July I finally – since this place has been on my little travel list for ages now – visited the island of Capri and the city of Positano. Two places I can highly recommend, even if you are traveling by yourself like I did this month. This was a month to unwind for a little bit since my internship ended and on my last day at the office I received the incredible news that I was given a job at a wine company so I needed to take a little time for myself and it was more than worth it.

In September I moved to the most gorgeous apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, right next to the canals. This was certainly a highlight of the year, moving back to this amazing city that holds so many dear memories and where a few of my best friends live. I cannot wait what the year of 2016 will bring for me here in Amsterdam!

Best Moments Of 2015 Part 4

The last two months of this year I spent a weekend in Domburg with my family to celebrate Sinterklaas, had dinner with my friends, visited the Winter Efteling and the Sissy Boy Christmas Market in Amsterdam, enjoyed the winter ballet of the Nutcracker at the Stopera and lots more. While writing this, I hope that next year will bring just as much happiness and excitement as this one did. Time goes by so fast and so many things happen. I feel so grateful for all the chances I have been given and all the wonderful people I met this year, which I will cherish forever. Cheers to a new beginning!
