Nothing makes me as happy as being in Italy. I vividly remember the first time I visited Rome on a school trip and I loved every minute of it. The Trevi fountain, the charming Italians, the cozy little streets in Trastevere and Monti, and of course Italian food. Italians have really mastered the art of delicious food. Parmesan cheese, pizza and truffle pasta – I’m a fan.
From that moment on, I went back to Italy many times. I have visited Verona together with my mum, I went on a little trip by myself to Naples, Capri and Positano, and I have been to Tuscany quite a few times (I absolutely loved Siena and Lucca). Since I do not actually live in Italy, I discovered a few Italian restaurants here in Amsterdam that always bring me back to ‘la dolce vita’. Do you also feel the need for some real Italian while in Amsterdam? Or just a good old fashioned pizza? If that’s the case, then I can highly recommend visiting these places:
CANTINETTA
I only visited this lovely little place once together with some of my friends, but it’s now one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. They serve up classic Italian dishes in a modern way. I loved sharing a bottle of Italian wine with my girls while enjoying a carbonara pasta. Oh and don’t forget to have some dessert here too, the sorta al cioccolato is simply to die for.

DI BRUNO
Don’t let your eyes fool you, although the restaurant doesn’t look like anything special at first glimpse, the pasta they serve here is everything you could ask for.

SARDEGNA
I visited this place for the first time on New Year’s Eve and had the most blissful time. A cute little restaurant with delicious food and a lovely atmosphere, just a stone’s throw away from the museum quarter. Best time to come is during warmer days so that you can enjoy their charming terrace outside.

SPAGHETTERIA
Overnight this place has become incredibly popular among locals and now you most likely have to wait in line for quite some time to get a table. Is it worth it? Yes, definitely. As simple as it gets but absolutely delicious at the same time.

Psst.. Toscanini is still very high on my bucket list so hopefully I will have the chance to visit this charming and authentic place very soon!
