Anyone who knows me knows I’m a morning person. To me, there’s nothing better than getting up bright and early and enjoy a tasty breakfast either homemade or at one of my favorite places here in Amsterdam. I’m not the best cook there is – far from it actually – but I do value a tasty breakfast in the morning. On Sundays I prefer to have breakfast at a cafe rather than at home. It’s my little Sunday ritual and I have come to love it. Since I’ve already shared my love for Ree7 and Pluk in the Nine Streets, I thought it’d be nice to share some of my other favorite places here in the city to have breakfast.
THE HOXTON
I actually visit this hotel quite often to enjoy some quality time with my friends, but it’s also a perfect place for breakfast. It always feels so comfy and calm so for me, it’s the best place to catch up with friends and enjoy a healthy breakfast with canal views. My favorite thing on the menu are definitely the avocado poached eggs. Yum!
Herengracht 255, Amsterdam
BUFFET VAN ODETTE
Even though many tourists have discovered this spot by now, this is still a place I more than happily return to over and over again. They simply have everything necessary. A healthy breakfast and ginger tea that is. If you get there early enough, you might even find yourself there all alone.
Prinsengracht 598, Amsterdam
SCANDINAVIAN EMBASSY
I love everything Scandinavian so I may be a bit biased but this place is undeniably cute and serves the best breakfast. It’s also located right next to the Sarphatipark, perfect for a little walk after breakfast.
Sarphatipark 34, Amsterdam
CONSERVATORIUM HOTEL
The first time I visited this divine hotel was for a birthday high tea and I enjoyed every second of it. The interior is so inspiring and so is the food and atmosphere. I can highly recommend to try the Jasmine Pearls tea and the French toast.
Van Baerlestraat 27, Amsterdam
GEORGE BISTRO
In one of my favorite neighborhoods, Oud Zuid, you’ll find George Bistro. I always feel like I’m in Paris when I step into this cute little cafe. I simply love the interior and the food is delicious. Even though it’s not located in the city centre, it’s definitely worth visiting. It’s also quite popular among locals and during warmer days you can also sit on the charming little terrace.
Valeriusplein 2, Amsterdam
STACH
If you’re in a hurry then I’d definitely stop by Stach (located almost on every corner in the city centre) for a breakfast on the go. They offer the most tasty things – from chocolate croissants and sandwiches to macarons and brownies and all different kind of teas.
My favorite: Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 56, Amsterdam
