April in Instagrams

April has been an incredible month. Spring has finally arrived, so everyone seems so happy and excited for picnics in the park, days spent at the beach and summer dresses. And that is not all, I am enjoying my internship at L’Oréal a lot. Every day is so exciting, I know it’s cliché but time flies by!

I also enjoyed birthday dinners of two of my closest friends, planned a trip to London, had lunches at a cozy little place called Ree7 in Amsterdam, played tennis (for the first time in a very long time), celebrated Kingsday in the city of Amsterdam and so on. I can not wait to see what May will bring!

Food in Amsterdam

A homemade life Ree7

Whenever friends or family members plan a visit to Amsterdam, they always ask me for the best places to sit down and have a tasty breakfast or lunch while in the city. That is why I want to share the best food places in Amsterdam that you might want to take a closer look at. This is just a handful of places and in a few months I might have to add new food places to this little list as new restaurants pop up every now and then. Bon appétit!

Ree7
I am in love with this lovely and cozy place. Ree7 is a warm and elegant Gastrobar in the heart of Amsterdam. It’s the perfect place to spend time with your mother, friends or even a handsome date. It always feels so homely and intimate, and the service is simply impeccable! I highly recommend the homemade apple pie with whipped cream, croissants with chocolate paste and the club sandwich with smoked chicken, egg, bacon, cheddar and avocado. Enjoy!

Also, they are opening another cozy place in the same street this month: Pluk, a lovely and healthy take away concept that I know I will visit a lot once it’s open. Something to look forward to this Spring!
Here’s the address: Reestraat 7, Amsterdam

De Bakkerswinkel
If you are visiting Amsterdam then you simply can’t miss breakfast or high tea at De Bakkerswinkel. The first time I walked into this cozy and incredible bakery I felt right at home. This is a place where you can relax, drink tea and eat lots of tasty food. Think freshly baked scones, fresh fruit salads and finger sandwiches. Yum! De Bakkerswinkel is a place where food is prepared with love for the traditionally made biological products and where locals come together to enjoy a delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch or high tea.
Here’s the address: Regulateurshuis 1, Polonceaukade 2, Amsterdam

De Joffers
Chic, elegant and sophisticated. That is how I would describe De Joffers. I went to this lovely little place a few times to have breakfast and if you are planning to have breakfast here while in the city, then I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes or the croissants served with jam.
Here’s the address: Willemsparkweg 163, Amsterdam.

De Laatste Kruimel
I adore this little place. It is located very close to my university, so I spent quite a lot of time here when I still lived in the city. It is not a very well known place but it’s worth a visit (or two)! They have the most tasty homemade scones and chocolate pies so if you have a sweet tooth like me, you can’t miss this place on your city trip.
Here’s the address: Langebrugsteeg 4, Amsterdam.

I love mornings, especially Sunday mornings when my alarm clock sleeps in as well and doesn’t wake me up at 6.20 am. Mornings are the beginning of a brand new day with new challenges and new exciting things. I prefer to start my day with a tasty and healthy breakfast and that is why I want to share my personal favourites when it comes to breakfast in the morning.

  1. Yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries, bananas and oatmeal.
I love to start my day with this delicious and healthy breakfast. It’s easy to make in the morning and it gives me lots of energy. Perfect for a day at the office!
  2. Mango, banana and oatmeal smoothie.
In need of a quick and tasty breakfast that will travel with you in the car or on the train? With a simple travel mug, you can have breakfast ready in a few minutes and be on your way to work. A refreshing smoothie with plenty of protein, fiber and flavor!
  3. Strawberry, raspberry and banana smoothie.
This lovely pink smoothie is almost too pretty to drink. Almost. It tastes amazing and you feel healthy and energized right away!
  4. Belgium waffles with whipped cream and strawberries.
Ok, I completely agree it’s not the most healthy way to start your day (apart from the strawberries). However, it’s oh so tasty and always makes my day! Perfect for a lazy weekend!
  5. Raspberry Almond Scones.
Sometimes I think I should have been born in London. I’d absolutely love to have scones with clutted cream and strawberry jam for breakfast every day. Yes I know, most people in the UK probably do not have scones for breakfast every single day, but I like to think they do as I like to think French women eat croissants every morning at one of those cute Parisian cafes.

I signed off early last week to enjoy a little bit of time away from the office and my laptop with my friends and family. The stress of taking tests, applying for jobs and completing my intern tasks on time before the long Easter weekend have been killing me all week, and the little signs my body sends me are a clear message that I need to slow down and unwind for a bit. I hope you can do just the same. Have a lovely week!
